210.1. MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
The Board recognizes that students may experience medical emergencies during the school day. Therefore, the Board directs building principals and nurses to maintain records, reviewed and updated on an annual basis, that provide information pertinent to each student's health and medical care. These records shall also contain a parent(s)/guardian(s) signed release of medical information and authorization for emergency medical care.
1. Annually, each student's parent(s)/guardian(s) shall complete the following forms: Emergency Form and Health Update Form.
2. Each building nurse shall check the forms for completeness and appropriate signatures.
3. The student's building principal or designee shall be notified in the event of a medical emergency.
4. The student's parent(s)/guardian(s) shall be notified as soon as possible after a medical emergency arises.
5. The student needing emergency medical care shall be accompanied to emergency care by the building principal or designee.
6. The Emergency Form and Health Update Form shall be given to the individual providing emergency care.
7. The individual accompanying the student to receive emergency medical care shall stay with the student until a parent(s)/guardian(s) arrives.
