525. DRESS AND GROOMING
The Board recognizes that the district's support staff set an example in dress and grooming for students and the school community at large. Compliance with reasonable standards for dress and grooming has a positive effect upon the district's operation and programs.
The Board has the authority to specify reasonable dress and grooming guidelines for the district's support staff.
Building administrators shall be responsible for establishing and determining the specific guidelines for appropriate dress, informing the non-custodial and non-maintenance staff of their respective buildings and for implementing this policy.
All Support Staff Guidelines
All support staff employees shall be physically clean, neat, and well groomed; dress in a manner consistent with the needs of the job to be performed; be groomed in such a way that hair style does not disrupt the educational process nor cause a health or safety hazard; and, where applicable, utilize safety gear and work uniforms provided by the district.
Summer attire shall be appropriate and presentable.
Custodial And Maintenance Guidelines
Three (3) uniforms will be issued to each custodian and maintenance employee. New employees will receive uniforms upon completion of their probationary period. All maintenance and custodial personnel are required to wear the uniform to work at all times while school is in session. Uniforms are not to be worn as street clothes during nonworking hours. Uniforms are not required during the summer vacation period.
All maintenance and custodial personnel will be required to launder and maintain the uniforms in a presentable manner. Additional uniforms may be purchased upon request. After the first issue, yearly replacements will be made as needed.
