713. PROTECTION OF PROPERTY
The Board recognizes the need to protect district property from damage, and to limit the district’s liability as it pertains to the use of school property.
Wheeled devices - includes but is not limited to skateboards, all terrain vehicles (ATV’s), motorcycles, unicycles, scooters (except when use is necessary due to disability), roller blades, and roller skates.
Where necessary, signs shall be posted notifying individuals of the following prohibitions:
1. The use of wheeled devices on school property shall be prohibited at all times, except as noted in this policy. Wheeled devices must be walked or carried on school property. This policy shall apply to all individuals.
2. Animals may not be walked or run on the district’s athletic fields. The residue left by the animals creates unhealthy playing conditions for our student athletes.
Exceptions
Individuals may ride bicycles on school property in appropriate areas only. Cars, trucks, and motorcycles are permitted on school property in areas designated as parking and drop off/pick up zones but may not be driven on fields, lawns or other areas not intended for vehicles. For purposes of maintenance, vehicles may be on district property at the direction of the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
The Board authorizes the administration to solicit the assistance of local authorities to enforce the provisions of this policy.
