Due to a conflict within the school district, the Spring Band Concert has been officially moved back to Thursday, May 24th, 2007 at 7:30pm. Please make note of this on your home calendars as we need all members of the bands in attendance that evening!

Student Teachers
The middle school music bands are welcoming our new student teacher, Mr. Ross Chu. Mr. Chu will be doing his student teaching with Mr. Orris from the middle of January through March 16th of this year. He is presently a senior music education major with emphasis in percussion at Penn State University.

Calendar
The Middle School Music Department Calendar
has been updated for the 2006-2007 school year. It includes the
dates and times for all middle school concerts as well as other
important music events. As changes &/or additions to the calendar
are made, the calendar will be updated again.
* Susquehanna Valley Band 2007
Twenty one students from DHEMS will be attending Susquehanna Valley Band this January. The festival will be held at Selinsgrove Middle School on Jan. 19-20, 2007. The concert will be on Saturday, Jan. 20th at 7:30pm. Congratulations to Sarah Baker, Andrea Cole, Mary Challman, Matthew Gasteiger, Shirley Chu, Claire Rapp, Andrew Baish, Sean Swartz, Will VanPatter, Emily Lesher, Callum Gasteiger, Katie Younkin, Karyn Hosler, Jacob Kenny, Tim Vasey, Matthew Challman, Maggie Storm, Jeff Wagner, Matthew Gordon, Katelyn Schneider, and Shannon Wright. Come out and support them on Jan. 20, 2007 (Note: there is a nominal fee for tickets.)
* Middle School Winter
Concert
The Middle School Winter Concert
will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2007 at 7:30 pm in the DHEMS
gymnasium. There will be an all-school assembly program at 1:30
pm. All of the music organizations (the bands under the direction
of Mr. Dale Orris, the choruses under the direction of Mrs. Lynn
Berg, and the string ensembles under the direction of Mrs. Helen
Hower) will perform. music of the winter season. Over one-half
of the school population participate in at least one music performing
organization (band, chorus, string ensemble). Our musicians are
part of one of the finest school music programs in Pennsylvania.
* 6th Grade Chorus Members
Share Talents
As students prepare for the Middle SchoolWinter Concert on Thursday,
December 14th, they also are sharing their talents with the community
in other ways. In early December, the sixth grade chorus will
be making their annual trip to the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village
to sing for the residents. Approximaely 50 students will be traveling
at the lunch hour to perform a half hour concert.
